Tellabration 2012
South Carolina’s newest guild, Charleston Area Professional
Storytellers (ChAPS) has joined with the Charleston
County Public Library for a comprehensive Tellabration.
On this day, communities gather to hear the art of storytelling
across six continents, in forty states, and nine countries.
Join us in the morning for children’s storytelling programs
at four of our branches and then again in the afternoon
at the main library for a family event.
11 a.m. Johns Island Regional Library- 3531 Maybank
Highway Johns Island:Seven Sensational Stories. Storyteller
Tim Lowry spins seven world folk tales in his signature
style. Animated delivery, whimsical vocals, and audience
participation, make these stories perfect for children.
11 a.m. James Island Library- 1248 Camp Road James
Island:Kaleidoscope of Stories: Claire Willett and Hawk
Hurst will spin a few yarns from faraway times and places
or next door and now. Stories worth hearing and sharing!
11 a.m. Otranto Regional Library- 2261 Otranto Road
North Charleston:Tales from Africa and Beyond. Minerva
King brings tales from Africa and the Caribbean to life with
her playful style, and David Baxley will provide fun and
laughter in this inviting program of stories for children.
11 a.m. Mt. Pleasant Regional Library- 1133 Mathis Ferry
Road Mt. Pleasant. Fun and Folktales Linda Stout brings
her enthusiastic storytelling style to folktales both old and
new. Listeners join in the tales to create a memorable
experience for children of all ages.
2-3:30 p.m. Main Library- 68 Calhoun Street .(all ages)
Join us at the Charleston County Public Library’s main
branch to celebrate this National Day of Storytelling with
stories for the whole family. Laughter and joys, ghosts and
memories of days gone by will be shared by David Baxley,
Hawk Hurst, Minerva King, Tim Lowry, Sharon Murray,
Linda Stout, and Claire Willet.

Tells Storytelling Festival in partnership with the Charleston
Area Professional Storytellers and the South Carolina
Storytelling Network. SCSN receives funds from the South Carolina
