Executive Board

Function: The Executive Board shall determine the policies of the organization, see that the objectives and guidelines defined by the constitution are carried out, and hire salaried persons.

Composition: The Executive Board shall be composed of the President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, immediate past president, Executive Secretary (non-voting), and Chairpersons of the following standing committees:

Advocacy
Archives and History
Awards
Book Awards
Constitution and By-Laws
Editorial
Information Technology
Intellectual Freedom
Legislative
Pre-service Education
Public Awareness
Standards and Guidelines

and Chairpersons of the following sections:

Retired Library Media Specialists Section
Special Public/Independent School Section
Supervisors’ Section
Director of the Regional Network Council

The following are Ex-officio members of the Executive Board:

Executive Director of the South Carolina High School Library Media Association (SCHSLMA)
One Representative of Association for Educational Communications and Technology of SC (AECT)
One Representative of South Carolina Library Association (SCLA)
SC State Department of Education Representative
USC School of Library and Information Science Liaison
Advisory person appointed by the President
Young Writers Conference Representative
Chairpersons of Special Committees as appointed by the president

Residency: All members of the Executive Board shall reside and/or be employed in South Carolina and shall be active members of the Association.

Chairperson: The President shall serve as Chairperson of the Executive Board.

Meetings: The Executive Board shall meet a minimum of four times a year.
